Volunteer work

I have always believed in the importance of volunteering as a great way to give back to the community I live in, whether through my sons' schools and sports teams or canvassing for Cancer in my neighbourhood.

Gardens4u continues this tradition by offering gardening services to one non-profit organization each season.

My first season (2012) I organized several groups of student volunteers to help me weed and mulch the gardens at the Queensway Carleton Hospital.

The following season I helped kindergarten children plant bulbs at their school.

In 2014 I helped the same students start plants indoors, then plant a butterfly garden with the assistance of older students in the spring. Later in the season I planted bulbs with kindergarten students at a second school.

In 2015 I volunteered to help design and plant gardens to enhance the new buildings scheduled for construction at the Ruddy Shenkman Hospice in Kanata. Their construction schedule delayed further planting until fall 2017. Since then I have continued to volunteer my gardening services at RSH, with garden changes and improvements made each year.

Please contact me if there is a non-profit organization you think could use my gardening help.
